Norregard was born Jens Peder Petersen Norregaard in Aarhus, Denmark, 9 June 1887; immigrating to White Pine County, NV, on 10 November 1907. He was later naturalized and served in the U.S. Army during World War I (Sergeant, 63d Infantry, II Division), under the Americanized version of his name. He was a charter member of the Ely Volunteer Fire Department, and served as the Ruth Resident Deputy Sheriff, White Pine County Sheriff's Department, during the 1920s and 1930s. Vera L.  Norregard was born Vera Lucille Moore in Fillmore County, Nebraska, to William Jesse Moore and Flora Inez Moore, nee Angstead (both buried at Ely, NV). She was recruited to relocate to Ruth, NV, in 1926, to teach  in the local grade school, which she did until her marriage to Peter P.  Norregard on 16 October 1928. Nunnelly Frank Built the Nunnelly Grocery Store at 220 East 11th Street in 1907. He changed the name to the Ely City Grocery Store. The building was later used as the Lake Apartments by 1946 until it was sold in 1987 to Jane and Norman Lindley who remodeled the rundown building into the Steptoe Valley Inn, an elegant Victorian style bed and breakfast establishment which opened its doors in 1991.
